Join the National Parliamentary Debate League 

Membership registration for 2024-25 will close mid-March of 2025. Membership must be renewed each season; if you registered in 2023-24, your membership will expire on October 31, 2024, unless it is renewed. To check your school’s registration status, see the NPDL Representatives Roster.

  • Member schools are represented in the NPDL Legislature. Each school may designate an adult representative and/or a student representative to represent it in the Legislature. The Legislature votes on league rules at meetings of members and via online written ballots.

    At the end of each season, the Legislature also elects the NPDL Board of Directors through an online vote.

    Independent teams and those from member schools are included in the NPDL School Rankings.

    NPDL membership is not necessary for participation in the NPDL Fall Invitational, NPDL Nationals, and NPDL Tournament of Champions.

    Both non-member and member school representatives will be added to the NPDL google group and will have access to the NPDL google drive, but only the latter can vote (if they have fulfiled their three tournament requirements). The former are welcome to join our two yearly Meetings of Members and observe.

 

Membership Registration Form

  • By completing the online membership form below, you provide your un-revoked consent that your school may receive official communications from, and send official communications to, NPDL by electronic transmission (e.g. email, Google forms, website forms, OpaVote). This will allow NPDL to send your school meeting notices, ballots, conduct meetings, and handle other official business that requires member approval, by electronic transmission. It also allows your school to send the same types of information to NPDL via electronic transmission. Official communication with your school refers to communication with the school representatives you list on this membership form, or with any school representatives your school duly designates in the future.

    Before consenting to electronic transmission, please review and be aware of the following:

    1. You are not required to consent to electronic transmission. You may request that meeting notices, ballots, and other matters of official business be sent to your school via regular mail. To do so, please send NPDL a completed hard copy of the membership form by regular mail in lieu of completing the online membership form.

    2. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by sending NPDL a written notice over regular mail that you are withdrawing your consent to electronic transmission. No fee will be charged for withdrawing your consent.

    3. This consent to electronic transmission is broad, and may include transmission of meeting notices, ballots, and other important information regarding NPDL. Your consent represents consent under both California Corporations Code 20 and 21 (transmission from and to NPDL). Your consent also meets the requirements for consent under the federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (15 U.S.C. Sec. 7001(c)(1)).

    4. Consenting to electronic transmission via email requires that your school’s representatives have access to a computer, have a current email account in their name, have provided their current email addresses to NPDL, and these email addresses can be added to the NPDL Google group.

  • The debate program supervisor (a staff member who supervises your debate program, such as a head coach, club adviser, or school administrator) should fill out the membership form below.

    MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION IS NOT OFFICIALLY COMPLETE UNTIL THE DEBATE PROGRAM SUPERVISOR REPLIES TO THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL FOLLOWING FORM SUBMISSION.

    The adult and student representatives should also sign up for the NPDL Forum.

Updating Your Information

All information you submit through the membership form above will be stored in the NPDL roster. To update any of your school information in our roster, either the debate program supervisor or one of the school representatives should email the changes to npdl.board+secretary@gmail.com.

If you are changing representatives, the email notice must CC the debate program supervisor, the old representative being removed (if applicable), the new representative being designated (if applicable), and the other representative of the school (if there is one).
